We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Cor 4:8-9
Each of us, at one time or another, have gone through periods of despair, moments of severe trial or crisis that throw our lives into a tailspin. Trials are an inevitable part of life. During such moments, it is easy to feel overwhelmed, focus on the insurmountable circumstances, and give up hope.
But Paul reminds us that it is in these very moments when we must maintain our focus on Christ, and keep our faith, hope and trust in the God who can and will walk with us through our trials. He helps us keep things in the proper perspective. Yes, things may be difficult right now, but don’t lose hope – God has a purpose, He is sovereign over your circumstances, and He will see you through them.
Perhaps you or someone you know is going through such a situation right now. Remember that we are not crushed, not in despair, not abandoned, and not destroyed.
